Queenslanders are now better connected with direct flights available from Mackay to the Gold Coast as Bonza’s newest route takes to the air today just in time for Christmas.
The low-cost carrier's newest route connects residents in the Mackay region to the Gold Coast three weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays with fares starting from $59 per person one way.
“Yesterday, we got wheels up for the first time from our new base on the Gold Coast. Today, we are thrilled to start connecting the Goldie with Mackay as we continue our mission of connecting communities at affordable prices,” said Tim Jordan, CEO at Bonza.
The North Queensland Airports group (NQA) owns and operates Mackay Airport and has been working closely with Bonza for several months to land this exciting new route.
“Today’s new flight adds to the services we already operate into and out of Mackay including Melbourne (Tullamarine) and Sunshine Coast. We thank North Queensland Airports for their ongoing partnership,” said Jordan.
Mackay Airport Head of Operations Adrian Miles said the new service had come at an ideal time: “We are thrilled to have these new direct Bonza flights starting today. It means travellers across Queensland can plan to make the most of their festive season break, whether taking a holiday or visiting family and friends.”
“Both Mackay and the Gold Coast offer spectacular attractions and activities, but they’re also quite unique. While Mackay locals might head to the Coast for adventure parks or surf, travellers from the Gold Coast and northern NSW can now easily visit our region to experience our untouched natural highlights, like Cape Hillsborough, or discover our world-class fishing and beachside camping,” added Miles.
Travellers are encouraged to download the Fly Bonza app which is the only place to book direct.
Bonza is Australia’s new and only independent low-cost airline enabling Australians to explore more of their own backyard for less. Bonza is the first airline globally to take an app-first approach with the only place to book direct being the Fly Bonza app. The airline was also the first globally to introduce a gender-neutral ‘wear it your way’ uniform including custom Bonza sneakers. Bonza’s all Aussie menu is the first onboard menu to be 100% sourced locally and is ordered on-demand from the Fly Bonza app meaning there are no trolleys to be seen onboard.
