Bonza’s maiden flight to Victoria touched down at Melbourne Avalon Airport in February 2023 from the Sunshine Coast with a direct connection to the Gold Coast added to the route network in December 2023.
”Three popular Aussie cities are now better connected as Southeast Queenslanders are able to fly direct to Melbourne Avalon for a range of memorable experiences across Melbourne‚ Geelong and the Great Ocean Road‚” said Tim Jordan‚ Bonza CEO.
“Meanwhile Victorians are taking well earned breaks to enjoy the warm coastal comforts of both the Sunny Coast and the Goldie. With our Melbourne Avalon fares starting from $79 per person (one way) travellers are saving more on fares and therefore spending more at their destinations‚ which is great news for the local economy.”
January to March of 2024 was Melbourne Avalon Airport’s biggest quarter for passenger numbers since pre-Covid‚ which has been attributed to Bonza’s launch of Gold Coast services.
“We’re proud to see the growth in capacity‚ choice and competition that is being provided by Bonza to passengers using Avalon. Melbourne Avalon Airport is truly Victoria and Melbourne’s secondary 24/7 international airport‚” said David Fox‚ Executive Chairman‚ Melbourne Avalon Airport.
